Job summary
Placements24 is seeking an experienced Process Development Scientist with a strong background in chemical engineering to join our facility in Vereeniging. The role focuses on optimizing and scaling up chemical processes for manufacturing, collaborating with production and R&D to improve efficiency, safety, and cost-effectiveness.
The ideal candidate will have MSc/PhD in Chemical Engineering, 5+ years in process development, and hands-on experience with process simulation tools.
Qualifications
- MSc or PhD in Chemical Engineering or related field.
- 5+ years of process development and scale-up experience in the chemical industry.
- Strong understanding of reaction kinetics, thermodynamics, and mass transfer.
- Experience with Aspen Plus or similar process simulation software advantageous.
- Good manufacturing practices (GMP) experience is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Develop, optimize, and scale up chemical manufacturing processes from laboratory to pilot and full production scales.
- Conduct process hazard analyses and implement safety protocols to ensure safe operations.
- Troubleshoot production issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
- Design and execute experiments to improve process yield, efficiency, and product purity.
- Collaborate with engineers and chemists to design and commission new process equipment.
