You will collaborate with process engineers and operations, develop control strategies, document configurations, and stay abreast of new automation technologies to drive performance and reliability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in Chemical or Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 4 years in process control engineering.
• Strong knowledge of control theory, instrumentation, and DCS.
• Experience with PLC/DCS programming.

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Process Control Engineer for their facility in Upington . This role is essential for designing, implementing, and optimizing advanced process control strategies to ensure efficient, safe, and stable plant operations. You will leverage your expertise in automation and chemical engineering principles to enhance process performance and reliability. This is a critical role within the Northern Cape region's industrial landscape, offering the chance to work with sophisticated control systems and contribute to operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, configure, and commission advanced process control (APC) systems, including PID loops, model predictive control (MPC), and logic controllers.


• Develop and maintain control strategies to optimize plant performance, minimize energy consumption, and ensure product quality.


• Troubleshoot control system issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.


• Collaborate with process engineers and operations teams to define control requirements and identify optimization opportunities.


• Develop and maintain documentation for control systems, including logic diagrams, configuration files, and operating manuals.


• Stay updated on the latest advancements in process control technology and automation.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering , Electrical Engineering, or a related field.


• Minimum of 4 years of experience in process control engineering within the chemical or process industries.


• Strong understanding of control theory, instrumentation, and distributed control systems (DCS).


• Experience with PLC/DCS programming and configuration is essential.
