Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience with industrial automation and control systems, preferably in a chemical plant.
• Proficiency with major DCS platforms (Honeywell, Emerson, Siemens) and PLC languages (Ladder Logic, Structured Text).
• Strong understanding of process instrumentation and control theory.
• Experience with cybersecurity measures for OT systems.
• Ability to work in a hybrid model with on-site troubleshooting and remote analysis.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Control Systems Engineer with experience in the chemical industry to join their team in Vereeniging . This role is crucial for ensuring the reliable and efficient operation of plant automation systems. You will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of sophisticated control systems, including PLC, DCS, and SCADA. This hybrid position requires a balance of on-site work for hands-on system interaction and remote capabilities for analysis and development, contributing to enhanced process stability and performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, configure, and program Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) for chemical processes.
• Develop and maintain Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs) and SCADA systems for effective plant monitoring and control.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to control systems, instrumentation, and automation hardware/software.
• Implement advanced process control strategies to optimize plant performance, safety, and efficiency.
• Collaborate with process engineers and operations teams to define control system requirements and solutions.
• Ensure compliance with cybersecurity best practices for industrial control systems.
