Job summary

Placements24 seeks a highly skilled Power Systems Engineer with grid integration expertise to join our Cape Town-based team. You will design and optimize power system configurations for renewable projects, perform advanced analyses, and help ensure stable grid connections.

The ideal candidate holds a Electrical Engineering degree with power systems focus, 5+ years of experience, and proficiency in ETAP or PowerFactory, with strong communication and collaboration skills.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power Systems.
• Min 5 years of experience in power systems engineering with a focus on grid connection.
• Proficiency in ETAP, PowerFactory or similar software.
• Solid understanding of grid codes, transmission and distribution operations, and power electronics.
• Experience with renewable energy technologies and their impact on grid stability.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and design grid interconnection systems for renewable energy projects, including solar, wind, and battery storage.
• Perform power flow, stability, and short-circuit studies using advanced simulation software.
• Develop technical specifications for grid connection equipment and control systems.
• Collaborate with utility companies and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with grid codes and standards.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex power system issues related to grid integration and stability.
• Provide technical guidance and support to project teams throughout the project lifecycle.
