Placements24 is seeking an experienced Power Systems Engineer focused on Grid Integration for renewable energy sources, based in Mahikeng, North West. This hybrid role involves ensuring stable integration of intermittent renewables into the grid, analyzing performance, and collaborating with grid operators and project teams.

The role requires a Master's in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems) and at least 7 years in the field, with proficiency in PSS/E, ETAP or DIgSILENT PowerFactory, plus

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power Systems.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in power systems engineering, with a focus on grid integration of renewables.
• Proficiency in power system analysis tools such as PSS/E, ETAP, or DIgSILENT PowerFactory.
• Strong understanding of grid codes, interconnection standards, and renewable energy technologies.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, suitable for a hybrid role in the North West province.

Responsibilities

• Analyze grid capacity and stability to facilitate the interconnection of renewable energy projects (solar, wind).
• Develop technical solutions and strategies for integrating variable renewable energy into the national grid.
• Perform grid impact studies and power flow analysis using specialized simulation software.
• Collaborate with project developers, engineering teams, and utility companies on interconnection requirements and timelines.
• Ensure compliance with grid codes, technical standards, and regulatory requirements for Mahikeng and surrounding areas.
