Job summary

Placements24 in Sandton seeks an experienced Power Systems Engineer to design, analyze and implement power systems for diverse applications. You will work on generation, distribution, and protection projects across Gauteng, ensuring efficiency, reliability and safety.

The ideal candidate holds a BEng or BSc in Electrical Engineering, 4+ years of design/analysis experience, and proficiency with ETAP/PSS/E/PowerFactory; renewable integration is a plus.

Qualifications

• BEng or BSc in Electrical Engineering with Power Systems specialization.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in power system design and analysis.
• Proficiency with power system analysis software (ETAP, PSS/E, PowerFactory).
• Strong understanding of protection, stability and grounding concepts.
• Experience with renewable energy integration is a plus.
• Excellent technical report writing and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop electrical power systems, including substations, distribution networks, and protection schemes.
• Conduct load flow studies, short circuit analysis, and transient stability simulations using specialized software.
• Specify transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, and protective relays.
• Ensure designs comply with national and international electrical standards and regulations.
• Collaborate with project teams to integrate power systems into broader scopes.
• Provide technical expertise during construction, commissioning and operation in Sandton.
