Job summary

Placements24 is assisting a client in recruiting a skilled Field Service Engineer for the Energy Sector in the Polokwane region. The role covers installation, commissioning, maintenance and repair of electrical substation equipment, with extensive travel to client sites.

You will diagnose and fix issues on transformers, switchgear, protection relays and control panels, read P&IDs and schematics, and uphold stringent safety standards while delivering reliable grid support.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
Minimum 6 years in field service, maintenance, or engineering related to electrical substations and HV equipment.
Experience troubleshooting/repairing transformers, circuit breakers, relays, and control panels.
Strong understanding of power systems, grid operations, and HV safety protocols.
Ability to read and interpret P&IDs and electrical schematics.

Responsibilities

Install, test, commission, and maintain substation equipment on-site.
Diagnose and troubleshoot complex issues with transformers, switchgear, relays, and control systems.
Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance for longevity of equipment.
Respond to emergencies and restore service under pressure.
Interpret manuals, schematics, and drawings to guide repairs.
Ensure safety/regulatory compliance and meet client requirements in energy sector.
