Job summary

Talbot is seeking a Plant Manager to lead the Mossel Bay water treatment facility in Western Cape. The role requires managing operations, maintenance, stock, chemicals, and supplier performance, while ensuring cost control and contractual compliance.

Candidate must have 7+ years in water treatment operations with 3+ years in management, and hold an engineering degree (chemical/ mechanical/ civil) or a relevant environmental science postgraduate degree.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree (chemical/ mechanical/ civil) or post graduate degree in Environmental Science.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in water treatment operations, with at least 3 years in management.
• Strong knowledge of processes, regulations, and safety standards.
• Management of a water treatment process that operates 24/7.
• Contracts and financial management.
• Management principles (Planning, Budgeting and resource management).

Responsibilities

• Overall site management, including management of operations team, maintenance, stock control, chemical orders, supplier deliveries, invoices, and cost management.
• Apply knowledge of water treatment technology (Anaerobic Digestion, Ultrafiltration, RO, Sludge Dewatering, Demineralization, Remineralization, Disinfection) to site operations.
• Comprehensive reporting on plant progress and performance.
• Contract management - Ensuring compliance with contractual terms.
• Adhere to and manage the site’s Health & Safety requirements.
• Client relationship management.

Job description

We are looking for Plant Manager who aligns to our business drivers to join the Talbot Team to support our ambition in activating the transition to sustainable water.

The successful candidate would be based in Mossel Bay, Western Cape and be accountable for the management of the water treatment plant.

The role will involve:

• Overall site management, including but not limited to management of the operations team, maintenance activities, stock control, chemical orders, supplier deliveries, invoices, and cost management.
• Applying comprehensive knowledge of the water treatment technology (including Anaerobic Digestion, Ultrafiltration, Reverse Osmosis, Sludge Dewatering, Demineralization, Remineralization and Disinfection) to site operations.
• Comprehensive reporting on plant progress and performance.
• Contract management - Ensuring compliance with contractual terms.
• Adhere to and manage the site’s Health & Safety requirements.
• Client relationship management.
