Job summary

West Coast Personnel is seeking an experienced Water Treatment Plant Manager for Secunda. You will lead the day-to-day operations, manage the operations team, and coordinate maintenance, chemical procurement and supplier deliveries to ensure continuous 24/7 performance.

You should have an engineering degree (Chemical/Mechanical/Civil) with a postgraduate in Environmental Science and at least 7 years in water treatment operations, including 3 years in management.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree in Chemical, Mechanical or Civil Engineering.
• Postgraduate qualification in Environmental Science.
• Minimum 7 years in water treatment operations.
• At least 3 years in management of a 24/7 water treatment operation.
• Strong knowledge of water treatment processes, regulations and safety standards.
• Experience in RO and membrane technology.
• Experience in contract, financial and cost management.
• Strong planning, budgeting and resource management skills.
• Own reliable vehicle and valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day management of the water treatment plant.

• Control invoices, Opex and site costs.

Job description

Key Responsibilities

• Take overall responsibility for the day-to-day management of the water treatment plant.
• Lead, manage and support the plant operations team.
• Coordinate and oversee plant maintenance activities.
• Manage stock levels, chemical requirements and chemical ordering.
• Coordinate supplier deliveries and related site requirements.
• Manage invoices, operational expenditure and site costs.
• Apply sound technical knowledge of water treatment processes, including Reverse Osmosis and membrane technology, to plant operations.
• Monitor plant performance and identify opportunities for improved efficiency and operational performance.
• Prepare comprehensive operational and performance reports.
• Manage contractual obligations and ensure compliance with agreed contractual terms.
• Manage and maintain site Health & Safety standards and requirements.
• Ensure compliance with applicable operational processes, regulations and safety standards.
• Manage budgets, resources and operational planning.
• Maintain strong professional relationships with the client and relevant stakeholders.
• Ensure effective management of a plant operating on a 24/7 basis.

Minimum Requirements

• Engineering Degree in Chemical, Mechanical or Civil Engineering; OR
• Postgraduate qualification in Environmental Science.
• Minimum 7 years' experience in water treatment operations.
• At least 3 years' management experience.
• Proven experience managing a 24/7 water treatment operation.
• Strong knowledge of water treatment processes, regulations and safety standards.
• Sound technical understanding of Reverse Osmosis and membrane technology.
• Proven experience in contract management.
• Proven experience in financial and cost management.
• Strong understanding of management principles, including:
