Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a dedicated Chemical Engineer for their Benoni synthesis operations team. This on-site role focuses on scaling up APIs, optimizing processes, and ensuring safe, compliant production within cGMP guidelines.

You will collaborate with chemists, process scientists, and QA to move from lab to pilot and production scales, validate new procedures, and implement CAPAs while maintaining product quality and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering.
• 5+ years in chemical process development and scale-up for pharma.
• Experience with cGMP and pharmaceutical manufacturing environments.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Scale up chemical synthesis from lab to pilot and production scales.
• Optimize reaction conditions, work-up procedures, and isolation techniques to improve yield and purity.
• Develop and validate new process operating procedures and batch records.
• Conduct PHAs and implement safety protocols for chemical synthesis operations.
• Design, specify, and commission new process equipment relevant to pharmaceutical synthesis.
• Troubleshoot process deviations and implement CAPAs.
• Ensure all activities comply with cGMP and regulatory guidelines.
• Collaborate with R&D chemists, analytical scientists, and quality assurance teams.
• Monitor and control process parameters to ensure consistent product quality.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within manufacturing.
