Job summary

Netcare Pharmacies is seeking a Receptionist to be the first point of contact in a hospital reception setup. You will greet patients and visitors, handle enquiries, and support admissions and data entry to ensure smooth patient flow.

The role requires strong communication, organization, and a proactive approach to hospital operations, with emphasis on accurate SAP data and compliant procedures.

Responsibilities

• Greeting Patients & Visitors: Provide a warm and friendly welcome to patients and visitors.
• Direct patients to departments and assist while they wait.
• Provide information about hospital services, locations, and procedures.
• Obtain and verify patient personal, medical aid, or insurance info at admission.
• Maintain accurate SAP patient records and confirm details at each visit.
• Ensure consent and terms are completed, explained, and signed.
• Admit patients online and direct admissions promptly.
• Record patient, contact person, and account details in SAP.
• Verify information during patient admission.
• Explain medical aid rules, benefits, and co-payments to patients.
• Attach required docs to SAP; store offline docs when needed.
• Ensure payments or guarantees are received before admission.
• Obtain authorisations for patient admission; make notes in SAP.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and governance.
• Ensure a seamless patient journey and welcoming admissions.
• Accept cash and card payments; issue receipts per SOP.
• Generate receipts with correct value and payer.
• Deposit funds to drop safe; balance and reconcile.
• Manage petty cash when needed.
• Collect medical aid co-payments per plans; verify SAP prompts.
• Verify patient information: names, DOB, contact, address.
• Verify identification documents (ID, medical aid card, letter) provided.
• Obtain authorisations for medical aid patients.
• Collect COID documents at admission as per SOP.
• Obtain letters of guarantee for international patients.
• Collect full upfront deposits for private/international patients.
• Answer calls professionally; transfer as needed.
