Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a compassionate Elderly Care Assistant to join our team in Bloemfontein on a part-time basis. You will provide in-home support to seniors, helping with daily activities and companionship to promote independence and dignity.

Responsibilities include personal care, meal preparation, light housekeeping, mobility assistance, medication reminders, and reporting changes to the supervisor. Flexibility for weekends/evenings is valued, with mileage reimbursement and training

Qualifications

• Previous experience in elderly care or related healthcare setting.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patience, empathy and a compassionate nature.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
• Understanding of elder care best practices and safety protocols.
• Willingness to undergo a background check.
• Flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends and some evenings in Bloemfontein.
• Knowledge of basic nutrition and meal preparation.
• Ability to follow instructions and care plans accurately.

Responsibilities

• Assist clients with personal care, including bathing, dressing, and grooming.
• Help with mobility, transferring, and positioning.
• Administer medication reminders as prescribed.
• Prepare nutritious meals and assist with feeding.
• Perform light housekeeping duties, such as tidying rooms and laundry.
• Provide companionship and engage clients in social activities.
• Accompany clients on appointments or outings.
• Monitor clients' well-being and report any changes to the supervisor.
