Job summary

Placements24 is actively seeking a compassionate Social Care Assistant in Bloemfontein to support elderly residents with daily living, companionship, and person-centered care in a local care facility. This on-site position emphasizes dignity and independence within a dedicated care team.

You will follow care plans, assist with personal care and mobility, support meals, and engage residents in activities to reduce loneliness while maintaining safety and comfort in a respectful environment.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in aged care or related caregiving role is preferred.
• A relevant qualification in Healthcare or Community Care is an advantage.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect with elderly individuals.
• Demonstrated patience, empathy, and a compassionate nature.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with personal care needs, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
• Help residents with mobility, including transfers and walking, using assistive devices as needed.
• Support residents with meal times, including feeding assistance and ensuring dietary needs are met.
• Monitor residents' health and well-being, reporting any changes or concerns to nursing staff.
• Engage residents in social activities and provide companionship to combat loneliness.
• Maintain a clean and safe living environment for all residents.
• Assist with light housekeeping duties within resident rooms and common areas.
• Accompany residents to appointments or outings as required.
• Ensure resident dignity and privacy are maintained at all times.
• Follow care plans and treatment protocols as directed by healthcare professionals.
