Job summary

On Line Personnel is seeking an Operations Assistant to support our truck fleet control in Port Elizabeth. You will coordinate drivers, monitor vehicles and communicate with clients to resolve issues as they arise.

This hands-on role requires an energetic individual who thrives in a fast-paced transport operation and is willing to be available as required beyond standard hours.

Qualifications

• Matric is required.
• Experience in fleet control or transport scheduling, ideally long-distance trucks.
• Strong Excel skills and good communication abilities.

Operations Assistant (Truck Fleet Control) – Port Elizabeth.

Are you switched-on, energetic and someone who thrives when things are happening? We are looking for an individual to join a busy transport operation and play a hands-on role in keeping a fleet of long-distance trucks moving efficiently.

This is not a desk-bound 8-to-5 position — you will be at the heart of the operation, coordinating drivers, monitoring vehicles, communicating with clients and solving problems as they happen.

Work Schedule:

• Monday – Friday: 7:30am – 5:00pm
• Every second weekend: Saturday 7:30am – 11:00am in the office
• Standby: Evenings and reachable on the company cell when required

This opportunity would suit a switched-on individual who enjoys a fast-paced environment where no two days are exactly the same.

Salary: R15 000 to R18 000 per month commensurate with qualification and experience.

Requirements:

• Matric
• Previous experience in fleet control, transport operations or scheduling — specifically long-distance trucks, rather than courier vehicles
• Good computer skills, particularly Excel
• Excellent communication and people skills (preferably fluent in Afrikaans)
• Sharp, practical and solutions-driven — you don’t freeze when things go wrong!
• Good common sense and the ability to make sensible decisions under pressure
• Energetic, reliable and willing to get involved
• Strong work ethic and a can-do attitude
• Stable employment history with good, contactable references
• Someone who understands that transport doesn’t always run according to the clock and is prepared to be available when required

Key Performance Areas:

• Scheduling and coordinating long-distance trucks
• Monitoring drivers and fleet movements
• Checking vehicle cameras and dealing with issues as they arise
• Coordinating loading and offloading, ensuring accuracy and compliance
• Keeping clients updated and proactively communicating any delays or challenges
