Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly experienced Senior Chemical Process Engineer to provide pivotal production support at our Mahikeng facility in North West, ZA. This on-site role focuses on troubleshooting, optimizing process parameters, and driving improvements to yield, quality, and throughput.

The successful candidate will apply deep chemical engineering knowledge, lead root-cause analyses, mentor junior staff, and collaborate with R&D and operations to ensure safety and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in a chemical plant operations or production support role.
• Strong understanding of chemical engineering fundamentals, unit operations, and process control.
• Proven experience troubleshooting complex process issues and implementing effective solutions.
• Familiarity with process simulation and data analysis tools is beneficial.
• Knowledge of process safety principles and environmental regulations; Lean/Six Sigma a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct technical support to production team, resolving process-related issues in real-time.
• Monitor plant performance data, identify deviations, and implement corrective actions to maintain optimal operating conditions.
• Optimize existing chemical processes to improve yield, reduce cycle times, and minimize waste generation.
• Lead root cause analysis for production upsets and implement sustainable solutions.
• Develop and implement process modifications and upgrades to enhance efficiency and safety.
• Collaborate with R&D and engineering teams on process scale-up and new product introductions.
• Ensure all process changes comply with safety, environmental, and quality standards.
• Prepare technical reports, operating procedures, and training materials.
• Participate in plant shutdowns, turnarounds, and commissioning activities as needed.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to knowledge sharing within the operations team.
