Placements24 is seeking a diligent Chemical Engineer specialized in Safety & Compliance to join our client in Mossel Bay. The role focuses on ensuring chemical processes and plant operations meet safety and environmental standards.

You will develop, implement, and monitor safety protocols, conduct risk assessments, lead safety training, and maintain comprehensive EHS documentation to support a safe, compliant facility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering with a strong emphasis on safety.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a chemical engineering role with significant EHS responsibilities.
• In-depth knowledge of safety regulations (e.g., OSHA, local environmental laws) and process safety management principles.
• Experience with incident investigations and implementing corrective actions.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and training skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive safety programs and procedures for chemical plant operations.
• Conduct regular risk assessments, hazard analyses (HAZOP), and safety audits to identify potential risks.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant environmental, health, and safety (EHS) regulations and industry best practices.
• Investigate incidents and near-misses, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
• Provide training to personnel on safety procedures, emergency response, and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain all safety documentation and records, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
