Job summary

Takealot.com, a leading South African online retailer, is seeking a hands-on IT Support professional to join the team onsite at the Distribution Centre in Cape Town. You will resolve tickets, troubleshoot hardware, assist system engineers, and manage PCs, peripherals and access control across the site.

Requirements include 3+ years in IT support (or 6+ years with non-degree experience), certifications such as A+, N+, MCSA, and strong knowledge of Windows and Mac environments.

Qualifications

• Higher Certificate or Advanced National (Vocational) Certificate in IT/Computing or related field and a minimum of 3 years experience in IT Support.
• In the event that a candidate does not have a Higher Certificate or Advanced National (Vocational) Certificate in IT/Computing or related field, an equivalent experience requirement must be met, which equates to a minimum of 6 years of IT Support experience.
• A+, N+, MCSA certifications
• Advanced troubleshooting skills
• Advanced knowledge of Windows Operating Systems
• Advanced knowledge of Apple Mac Hardware and Software
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications.
• Experience in an IT support services related role that includes desktop support and troubleshooting
• Experience in and advanced understanding of wireless networks, networking printers, and LANs
• Advanced understanding of network security
• Experience in industrial environments is beneficial.
• Experience with Honeywell, Zebra, Newland Android devices is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Resolve IT support tickets using help desk ticketing software
• Troubleshoot and replace computers, monitors, printers, scanners and other peripherals in a fast-paced environment
• Assist system engineers as needed – 'Smart Hands'
• Install, compile, configure, patch, troubleshoot, and manage PC software
• Maintain, clean and test equipment and peripherals
• Asset tagging and asset management
• Perform password resets in Active Directory as well as Google Workspace and other in-house systems
• Provide comprehensive troubleshooting and support for all IT equipment and software
• Perform OS re-imaging and software installations as required
• Ensure user's backup needs are being met
• Other duties as assigned by Management on site or Team Lead
• Support site video conference and A/V equipment
• Install patch cabling for phone, server and switches as needed
• Document IT procedures for internal use including test protocols
• Provide 'smart-hands' support for server devices, network, print devices and fixed line devices
• Physically lift/deploy PC hardware and related equipment
• Manage vendor relationships for equipment support, maintenance and installations
• Be prepared for Stand-By as part of the job
• Own transport is essential
