Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Senior Chemical Process Engineer for a project-based role based in Rustenburg, North West. You will lead process design, optimization, and project execution with close collaboration across plant teams.

The ideal candidate brings 8+ years in chemical process engineering, strong project management, and proficiency in Aspen HYSYS/ChemCAD. On-site work is required with potential limited remote phases depending on project needs.

Qualifications

• Must have B.Eng. or B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering.
• 8+ years of chemical process engineering with significant project management.
• Experience managing process engineering projects from concept to completion in an industrial setting.
• Strong understanding of chemical plant operations, equipment, and safety protocols.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and implementation of chemical processes for new projects and plant modifications.
• Manage process engineering project scope, schedules, budgets and resources from initiation to closure.
• Develop PFDs, P&IDs, and mass/energy balances.
• Perform process simulations to optimize efficiency, yield and safety.
• Conduct feasibility studies, technical reviews, and risk assessments for proposed changes.
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, civil engineers and construction personnel.
• Ensure designs comply with industry standards, safety regulations and environmental policies.
• Procure and evaluate equipment proposals meeting specifications.
• Provide technical support during construction, commissioning and start-up.
• Troubleshoot operational issues and improve plant performance.
