Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join a leading water treatment solutions provider in Mahikeng, North West. The role focuses on designing, developing, and implementing mechanical systems for water purification and wastewater facilities, with emphasis on fluid mechanics, pump systems, piping, and process equipment.

You will collaborate with project managers, site engineers, and operations teams to deliver safe, efficient, and compliant solutions, supporting ongoing projects

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in mechanical design for process equipment and fluid systems.
• Experience in water or wastewater treatment is advantageous.
• Proficiency with CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and P&ID development.
• Strong understanding of fluid mechanics, pump selection, piping design, and water treatment processes.
• Familiarity with industry standards (e.g., AWWA) and environmental regulations.
• Excellent problem-solving and teamwork skills.
• Willingness to work on-site in Mahikeng, North West.

Responsibilities

• Design and specify mechanical components and systems for water and wastewater plants, including pumps, valves, piping, and filtration units.
• Develop P&IDs and mechanical layouts for treatment processes.
• Perform hydraulic calculations and system performance analyses.
• Collaborate with electrical and control engineers to integrate mechanical systems with automation.
• Prepare technical specifications and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Provide technical support during construction, installation, and commissioning phases.
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues in operating water treatment systems.
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and safety codes.
• Contribute to value engineering to optimize costs and performance.
