Placements24 seeks a Chemical Engineer specialized in water treatment to lead the operation and optimization of on‑site water and wastewater systems in Mossel Bay, Western Cape. Qualifications

• BEng or BSc in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of hands‑on experience in industrial water and wastewater treatment.
• Specialized knowledge of water treatment technologies (filtration, membranes, chemical precipitation, disinfection).
• Strong understanding of water chemistry, analytical techniques, and quality control.
• Familiarity with South African environmental legislation pertaining to water use and discharge.
• Excellent problem‑solving and analytical skills.
• Proficiency in process monitoring and data analysis.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for plant environments.
• Experience in Mossel Bay, Western Cape or coastal industrial settings is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the operation and maintenance of industrial water and wastewater treatment plants.
• Monitor water quality parameters and implement adjustments to treatment processes.
• Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues within the water treatment systems.
• Conduct performance analyses and drive process optimization and cost reduction.
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations on water discharge and usage.
• Develop and maintain operating procedures and maintenance logs.
• Collaborate with regulators, environmental agencies, and internal stakeholders.
• Evaluate and recommend new water treatment technologies and equipment.
• Train and mentor junior technicians and operators on processes and safety.
