Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a meticulous Mechanical Design Drafter to support the engineering team on a contract basis in Mossel Bay. You will translate concepts into detailed technical drawings and models for manufacturing, working closely with mechanical engineers to ensure accuracy and adherence to project specs.

The role emphasizes on-site collaboration, revision control, and delivering precise drawings to support diverse engineering projects within a project-driven environment.

Qualifications

• Diploma or relevant certification in Mechanical Drafting or Design.
• 2–4 years of experience as a Mechanical Design Drafter.
• Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar.
• Strong understanding of mechanical principles and manufacturing processes.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in producing technical drawings.

Responsibilities

• Produce detailed 2D and 3D drawings, schematics, and models using CAD software based on engineering sketches and specifications.
• Ensure drawings comply with industry standards and company drafting conventions.
• Prepare Bills of Materials (BOMs) and other documentation required for manufacturing.
• Revise drawings based on engineering changes, markups, and feedback.
• Maintain organized drawing files and revision control.
• Collaborate with engineers and production teams to clarify design intent and resolve drafting issues.
