Placements24 is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to contribute to renewable energy projects in Mossel Bay. The role focuses on the mechanical design and development of components and assemblies for wind and solar energy systems, translating concepts into robust, manufacturable designs and working closely with manufacturing and R&D teams on-site.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years of professional mechanical design experience.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks or Inventor and basic FEA.
• Knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and design for manufacturability.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize mechanical components and assemblies for renewable energy systems using CAD software.
• Perform detailed engineering calculations, including stress, fatigue life, and thermal analyses.
• Create detailed manufacturing drawings, specifications, and BOMs.
• Collaborate with electrical engineers and project managers for system integration.
• Support prototyping, testing, validation, and implement design improvements.
• Contribute to material and manufacturing process selection for renewable energy applications.
