Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a diligent Technical Helpdesk Specialist to join our client’s mining operations in Upington, Northern Cape. You will provide first-level support to on-site personnel, troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues, and maintain IT systems and equipment.

The role is full-time and on-site, requiring strong problem-solving, clear communication, and the ability to work independently in a demanding industrial environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years in a technical helpdesk or IT support role.
• Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems and common software.
• Familiarity with TCP/IP/DNS/DHCP and basic network troubleshooting.
• Experience with ticketing systems such as ServiceNow or Jira Service Desk.

Responsibilities

• Provide first-level technical support to end-users for hardware, software and network issues.
• Diagnose and resolve problems; escalate complex issues to senior staff as needed.
• Install, configure and maintain IT hardware, software, systems, networks, printers and scanners.
• Assist with account setup, password resets and access permissions.
• Document all requests and resolutions in the ticketing system.
• Conduct routine system checks and participate in IT projects and upgrades.
