Job summary

Placements24 is assisting in recruiting a Production Operations Engineer for a leading upstream energy company in Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape. The role focuses on monitoring production, diagnosing issues, and implementing optimization strategies to maximize hydrocarbon recovery while maintaining asset integrity.

The ideal candidate will hold a related engineering degree, have at least 6 years in oil and gas production operations, and possess strong HSE knowledge.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or closely related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in oil and gas production operations.
• Experience in production optimization, artificial lift systems, and well performance analysis.
• Familiarity with production facility operations and equipment.
• Strong understanding of HSE principles within the Oil & Gas industry.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with diverse groups.
• Experience working in or supporting operations in the Eastern Cape region is a plus.
• Role requires a hybrid work schedule with regular on-site presence in Port Elizabeth.

Responsibilities

• Monitor daily production performance, identify deviations, and implement corrective actions to optimize output.
• Analyze well and facility performance data to diagnose issues and recommend solutions.
• Develop and implement production enhancement strategies, including artificial lift optimization and gas lift system management.
• Ensure the integrity and reliability of production equipment and facilities.
• Collaborate with reservoir engineers on production forecasting and development planning.
• Support the planning and execution of maintenance activities to minimize downtime.
• Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and operational regulations.
• Prepare technical reports, production summaries, and performance analyses.
• Participate in safety reviews, hazard identification, and risk assessment processes.
• Provide technical support to field operations personnel.
