Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Production Operations Engineer for our client in Pretoria, Gauteng. You will lead production optimization across oil and gas fields, ensuring safe, efficient operations and strong hydrocarbon recovery.

You will analyze data, manage artificial lift and well integrity, and mentor junior engineers while coordinating with drilling, reservoir, and facilities teams. A Bachelor in Petroleum or Chemical Engineering and 7+ years of relevant experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in oil and gas production operations.
• Strong knowledge of production facilities, artificial lift systems, and wellhead equipment.
• Proficiency in production optimization software and data analysis tools.
• Experience with well testing, production logging, and reservoir surveillance.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and optimize production operations for assigned fields, ensuring target achievement.
• Analyze production data, identify trends, and implement strategies to maximize hydrocarbon recovery.
• Troubleshoot production issues, including artificial lift systems, flow assurance, and well integrity.
• Develop and execute workover and intervention programs.
• Conduct production forecasting and economic evaluations for optimization projects.
• Ensure compliance with all safety, health, and environmental regulations.
• Collaborate with drilling, reservoir, and facilities engineers to integrate operational plans.
• Prepare technical reports, production forecasts, and operational summaries.
• Mentor and guide junior production engineers.
• Evaluate and recommend new technologies to improve production efficiency and reduce costs.
