Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Facilities Engineer for an on-site role in Upington, South Africa, to support offshore production platforms with maintenance, integrity programs and modifications. You will coordinate maintenance activities, oversee modifications, and ensure topsides reliability while collaborating with offshore operations teams and contractors.

The role requires a mechanical or chemical engineering degree and at least five years of offshore facilities experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in facilities engineering, specifically offshore oil & gas platforms.
• Strong knowledge of topsides process equipment and utility systems.
• Familiarity with CMMS and inspection techniques.
• Understanding of structural integrity, corrosion control and safety systems.

Responsibilities

• Oversee maintenance, inspection and repair of topsides facilities including process equipment, utilities and structures.
• Develop and manage facility integrity assurance programs.
• Plan and supervise minor modification projects and equipment upgrades.
• Provide engineering support to offshore operations, troubleshooting operational issues and optimizing performance.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations, environmental standards and company policies.
• Manage vendor and contractor activities related to facility maintenance and projects.
• Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation measures for facility-related hazards.
• Participate in HAZID and HAZOP studies for modifications and new installations.
• Monitor facility performance and identify opportunities for efficiency improvements.
• Prepare technical reports, maintenance plans and project scopes.
