Mama Shelter Cape Town, part of the Accor family, seeks a hands-on Maintenance Technician to keep guest rooms, dining areas, and back‑of‑house spaces in peak condition. You will diagnose and repair electrical, plumbing, HVAC issues, and perform carpentry and painting as needed.

In this fast-paced hospitality setting, you’ll be organised, proactive, and ready to fix problems before guests notice. Flexibility for weekends or on-call shifts is a plus, with a strong safety mindset and clear

Formación

• Experience in hotel maintenance, facilities, construction, engineering, or a similar environment.
• Hands-on skills across electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry and general building maintenance.
• Problem-solving mindset with the ability to multitask and stay organised.
• Comfortable communicating with guests and team members in a fast-paced setting.

Responsabilidades

• Maintain guest rooms, restaurant areas and back‑of‑house spaces to ensure smooth operations.
• Diagnose and fix electrical, plumbing, HVAC and other mechanical issues promptly.
• Perform carpentry, painting and general repairs to keep facilities in top condition.
• Conduct preventative maintenance and monitor safety compliance and regulations.
• Respond professionally and efficiently to guest and team requests; maintain a calm presence.

You're a true jack (or jill) of all trades, turning your hand to carpentry, painting, repairs, and general maintenance to keep Mama looking fresh and fabulous.

Qualifications

You have experience in hotel maintenance, facilities, construction, engineering, or a similar environment and aren't afraid to get your hands dirty.

You know your way around electrical systems, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and general building maintenance. You're not expected to know everything, but you're always willing to learn.

Problem-solving is basically a hobby. When something breaks, you don't see a problem, you see a challenge.

You're organised, reliable, and able to manage multiple tasks without sacrificing quality.

You take pride in your work and notice the little things that others miss.

Working with people comes naturally to you. Whether it's a guest, contractor, or fellow team member, you know how to communicate with confidence and respect.
