Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a versatile Event Chef to manage a mobile catering unit serving the Polokwane area. The role involves cooking on-site at outdoor events, markets, and private functions, along with menu planning, hygiene, and ensuring customer satisfaction.

You’ll lead food preparation, operate the mobile unit, and adapt menus to different events. The ideal candidate has hands-on cooking skills, a passion for food, and strong customer service, with willingness to work weekends and evenings

Qualifications

Proven experience as a chef, preferably in mobile catering or food truck settings.
Proficiency in a variety of cooking techniques and high culinary standards.
Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene regulations.
Able to work independently and manage all aspects of a mobile unit.

Responsibilities

Plan, prepare, and cook a variety of dishes for a mobile catering unit, ensuring high quality and taste.
Operate and maintain the mobile catering unit, including equipment and safety checks.
Manage inventory of ingredients and supplies for the unit, ensuring adequate stock.
Provide excellent customer service, taking orders and serving food efficiently.
Maintain strict hygiene and food safety standards in all aspects of operation.
Adapt menus and cooking styles based on event type and customer demand.
