Job summary

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Cape Town seeks a Facilities Manager to oversee mission facilities, supervise drivers and housekeepers, and coordinate maintenance programs to protect Church properties.

Reporting to the Area Mission Support Manager, you will negotiate leases, conduct performance reviews with HR, and ensure safety compliance, quality standards, and timely project delivery.

Qualifications

• Temple recommends (or be worthy to hold one).
• Three-year National Diploma or Bachelor’s qualification is required.
• Minimum two years of supervisory experience.
• At least two years in facilities and property management, construction procedures, business practices, and safety and fire codes.

Responsibilities

• Meet the mission's temporal needs under the Area Mission Support Manager.
• Meet regularly with the Mission President to understand mission needs.
• Manage work of employees such as mission drivers and mission housekeepers.
• In partnership with HR, hire or terminate employees and recommend promotions.
• Conduct annual performance reviews and manage onboarding, time off requests, and worker accident claims with HR.
• Negotiate apartment leases, renewals, and closures.
• Scope and manage building maintenance projects.
• Manage resources and assign work to vendors to meet cost, quality and timeliness objectives.
• Perform inspections of mission facilities to ensure compliance with standards.
• Anticipate upcoming mission needs and manage them appropriately.
• Maintain inventory of Church-owned furnishings and proper disposal of excess supplies.
• Maintain strong relationships with mission leaders, missionaries, employees and vendors.
