Job summary

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Johannesburg seeks a Mission Support Supervisor to oversee facilities and properties for the mission. You will supervise drivers and housekeepers, coordinate maintenance, and report needs to the Mission Support Manager while working closely with HR on staffing decisions.

Regular interaction with the Mission President and leaders is required, as you ensure safety, compliance, and efficient operations across mission facilities in Gauteng.

Qualifications

• Must hold a current temple recommend or be worthy to hold one.
• Three-year National Diploma or Bachelor’s qualification required.
• At least two years of supervisory experience.
• Two years’ related experience in facilities and property management, construction procedures, safety and fire codes.
• Exposure to front-line management in a multi-disciplinary work environment.
• Professional communication with mission leaders, contractors, and vendors.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Mission Support Manager with matters relating to existing mission facilities and properties.
• Coordinate and report on mission facility needs to ensure they are being met.
• Supervise the mission home attendant and mission driver.
• Meet regularly with the Mission President to understand mission needs.
• Manage the work of employees such as mission drivers and housekeepers.
• In partnership with HR, hire or terminate employees and recommend promotions or other status changes.
• Conduct annual performance reviews and approve expenses in partnership with HR.
• Negotiate apartment leases, renewals, and closures.
• Scope and manage building maintenance projects.
• Assign work to vendors to meet cost, quality, and timeliness objectives.
• Perform inspections of mission facilities to ensure compliance with standards.
• Maintain inventory of Church-owned furnishings and proper disposal of excess items.
• Maintain relationships with mission leaders, missionaries, and other employees and vendors.
