Job summary

Placements24 in Stellenbosch seeks a highly experienced Maintenance Manager to oversee all aspects of heavy mining equipment maintenance. You will lead a team of technicians and supervisors, developing and implementing strategies to maximize equipment availability, reliability, and lifespan while controlling costs in a safe work environment.

You will drive continuous improvement in maintenance practices, manage budgets, and ensure compliance with safety standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor3s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field is required.
• Minimum 8 years in maintenance management with 5+ years supervising in heavy industry/mining.
• Proven track record leading large maintenance teams and budgets.
• Strong knowledge of maintenance strategies (RCM, TPM) and CMMS software.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Commitment to safety and proactive risk management in Stellenbosch.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage preventive and corrective maintenance programs for mining equipment.
• Lead, mentor, and manage the maintenance team; handle scheduling and performance management.
• Oversee the maintenance budget and identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Ensure all activities comply with safety standards, environmental regulations, and best practices.
• Manage spare parts inventory and procurement for timely availability.
• Analyze equipment performance data to identify trends and root causes of failures.
