Qualifications

• Bachelor3s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field is required.
• Minimum 8 years in maintenance management with 5+ years supervising in heavy industry/mining.
• Proven track record leading large maintenance teams and budgets.
• Strong knowledge of maintenance strategies (RCM, TPM) and CMMS software.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Commitment to safety and proactive risk management in Stellenbosch.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced and results-oriented Maintenance Manager to oversee all aspects of heavy mining equipment maintenance at their facility in Stellenbosch . This leadership role is responsible for developing and implementing effective maintenance strategies to maximize equipment availability, reliability, and lifespan, while controlling costs and ensuring a safe working environment. You will lead a team of technicians and supervisors, driving continuous improvement in maintenance practices and performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive preventive and corrective maintenance programs for all mining mobile and fixed plant equipment.
• Lead, mentor, and manage the maintenance team, including scheduling, performance management, and training.
• Oversee the maintenance budget , ensuring cost-effective operations and identifying opportunities for savings.
• Ensure all maintenance activities comply with company safety standards, environmental regulations, and industry best practices.
• Manage spare parts inventory and procurement processes to ensure timely availability of critical components.
• Analyze equipment performance data to identify trends, root causes of failures, and areas for improvement in equipment reliability .

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; trade qualifications are highly valued.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in maintenance management, with at least 5 years in a supervisory role within the heavy industrial or mining sector .
