Job summary

Placements24 seeks an Electrical Engineering Specialist for on-site operations in Rustenburg, North West. You will design, implement, and maintain electrical control systems and automation for mining equipment, driving efficiency and safety on site.

Candidate should have a 6+ year track record in industrial automation, PLC/HMI/SCADA expertise, and HV systems knowledge. Pr. Eng./Tech. Eng. (ECSA) preferred. Accommodation may be provided along with ongoing professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required.
• Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.) or Technologist (Pr. Tech. Eng.) with ECSA preferred.
• Minimum 6 years in electrical engineering focusing on industrial automation/mining.
• Experience with PLC programming (Siemens/ Rockwell) and HMI/SCADA.
• Strong knowledge of high‑voltage systems and mining equipment.
• Familiarity with mining safety standards (SANS).
• Team player with clear communication; on‑site Rustenburg travel.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement electrical control systems for mining equipment.
• Troubleshoot and maintain PLCs, VFDs, HMIs, and SCADA to minimize downtime.
• Conduct electrical safety assessments per mining regulations and standards.
• Specify components suitable for harsh mining environments.
• Collaborate with engineers and site personnel to optimize performance.
• Develop electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical docs.
• Assist commissioning of new installations and upgrades.
• Provide technical support and training to maintenance teams.
• Stay updated on emerging electrical/automation tech in mining.
