Job summary
Placements24 is seeking a skilled Control Systems Engineer to enhance automation at its mining facilities near Rustenburg. You will design, program, and commission PLC/SCADA systems, develop control logic, and ensure safe, efficient operation in a challenging industrial environment.
You will collaborate with mechanical/electrical engineers and provide on-site training and support to operations teams, driving continuous improvement in mining automation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechatronics is required.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial automation and control systems.
- Experience in mining or heavy industry preferred.
- Proficiency with PLC programming and SCADA/HMI software; familiarity with Profibus/Ethernet/IP.
Responsibilities
- Design, program, and commission industrial control systems (PLC, SCADA, DCS) for mining equipment and processes.
- Develop and maintain control logic, HMI interfaces, and data acquisition systems.
- Troubleshoot automation issues to minimize production downtime.
- Collaborate with mechanical and electrical engineers to integrate control systems into plant machinery.
- Provide technical support and training to operations and maintenance teams.
