Placements24 is seeking a Senior Control Systems Engineer for mining operations near Rustenburg, North West. The role focuses on design, implementation, and maintenance of advanced control systems to optimize plant performance and safety.

The successful candidate will design, program, and commission DCS/PLC/SCADA systems, develop automation strategies, troubleshoot in real-time, and manage upgrades while collaborating with instrumentation and electrical engineers.

Qualifications

• B.Eng or B.Tech in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in control systems engineering in mining or heavy industry.
• Expertise in PLCs from Siemens or Rockwell Automation.
• Strong SCADA experience (Wonderware, Ignition) and HMI development.
• Familiarity with instrumentation, fieldbus, and industrial networking.
• Proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex automation problems.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and project management skills.
• Team-oriented with clear communication of technical information.

Responsibilities

• Design, program, and commission advanced process control systems (DCS, PLC, SCADA) for mining equipment and plants.
• Develop and implement automation strategies to improve operational efficiency, safety, and reliability.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex control system issues in real-time industrial environments.
• Manage control system upgrade projects, ensuring minimal disruption to production.
• Collaborate with instrumentation and electrical engineers to ensure seamless system integration.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive control system documentation, including logic diagrams and user manuals.
• Provide technical support and training to plant operators and maintenance personnel.
• Stay abrest of the latest advancements in control system technology and automation.
