The ideal candidate has 6+ years in industrial automation, proficiency with Siemens/AB PLCs, and familiarity with mining safety standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Minimum 6 years in electrical engineering with focus on industrial automation and control systems.
- Proven experience with PLC programming (Siemens, Allen-Bradley) and SCADA systems.
- Knowledge of industrial networking protocols (Profibus, Ethernet/IP) and power distribution.
- Familiarity with mining electrical standards and safety regulations (SANS, Mine Health and Safety Act).
Responsibilities
- Design, install, and commission electrical systems for mining automation and control applications.
- Develop and maintain PLC logic, SCADA HMI interfaces, and industrial communication networks.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical and automation equipment, minimizing downtime.
- Ensure compliance with electrical safety regulations, mining standards, and company policies.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate automation into mining processes.
- Manage electrical maintenance schedules for critical plant equipment.
- Conduct risk assessments for electrical installations and propose mitigations.
- Contribute to specification and procurement of electrical and automation components.
- Provide technical support and training to maintenance personnel and operators.
- Stay abreast of new technologies in industrial automation relevant to mining.
