The candidate should have at least 5 years in mine ventilation, strong thermodynamics/fluids knowledge, and experience with Ventsim or Whisper to model networks and implement dust control strategies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field with specialization in ventilation.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in mine ventilation engineering, preferably underground mining.
• Proficiency with mine ventilation simulation software (Ventsim, Whisper).
• Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer principles.
• Knowledge of health and safety legislation for mining operations.

Responsibilities

• Design and optimize mine ventilation systems, including fan selection, ducting, and regulator placement.
• Conduct air quality monitoring and modeling to ensure compliance with occupational exposure limits.
• Develop and implement dust and fume control strategies within the mine.
• Analyze ventilation network performance and identify areas for improvement using specialized software.
• Collaborate with mine planning and production teams to integrate ventilation requirements into mine designs.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental legislation pertaining to mine ventilation.
