The ideal candidate has a mining/engineering background, 5+ years in underground ventilation, strong thermodynamics and gas monitoring knowledge, and proven ability to optimise airflow with specialist software.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related with specialization in ventilation.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in mine ventilation engineering, preferably in underground mining.
• Strong knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer principles.
• Familiarity with mine ventilation software and modeling tools.
• Experience with gas monitoring and dust sampling techniques.

Responsibilities

• Design and optimize mine ventilation networks, including fan selection, ducting, and auxiliary systems.
• Conduct airflow, temperature, and gas surveys to assess environmental conditions.
• Develop and implement strategies for dust suppression and control.
• Monitor and manage heat stress in underground environments.
• Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations related to mine ventilation.
• Prepare reports on ventilation performance, identify potential issues, and recommend corrective actions.
