Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a dedicated Ventilation Engineer to join the Richards Bay operations. You will design, implement, and manage ventilation systems to ensure safe air quality, monitor dust control, and maintain airflow across mining areas.

The role requires strong analytical skills and in-depth knowledge of mine ventilation principles, with experience in underground environments and familiarity with Ventsim or Minescape.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical or Mining Engineering with a specialization in ventilation.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in mine ventilation engineering, preferably underground.
• Proficiency in mine ventilation software such as Ventsim or Minescape for modeling and analysis.
• Thorough knowledge of dust control technologies and air quality standards in mining.

Responsibilities

• Design, install, and maintain mine ventilation systems (fans, ducting, auxiliary ventilation).
• Monitor air quality, temperature, and humidity levels throughout the mine.
• Develop and implement dust suppression and control strategies to reduce exposure risks.
• Conduct ventilation surveys and airflow measurements to ensure safety compliance.
• Analyze ventilation network performance and identify optimization opportunities and energy efficiency.
• Collaborate with safety officers and mine management on ventilation-related hazards.
