Job summary

Placements24 in George, Western Cape is seeking a meticulous Mine Surveyor to oversee all surveying activities for their mining operations near George. The role ensures accurate mapping, measurement, and control of mine workings to support planning and safe execution.

You will work with mine managers, engineers and production teams to provide precise spatial data, maintain survey networks, and update mine plans and DTMs using CAD software.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Mine Surveying or Geomatics is required.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Mine Surveyor in mining.
• Experience with underground/open-pit surveys and mine plans.
• Proficiency with total stations, GPS and laser scanners.
• Knowledge of mine planning software and geological modeling.

Responsibilities

• Conduct surveys of underground and surface mine workings, stockpiles and plant areas.
• Maintain survey control networks using advanced equipment and techniques.
• Prepare and update mine plans, sections and DTMs using CAD.
• Monitor and report on resource volumes and development progress.

About the Role

Our client seeks a meticulous and experienced Mine Surveyor to oversee all surveying activities for their mining operations near George . The successful candidate will be instrumental in maintaining high standards of surveying practice within a demanding operational environment in the scenic Western Cape .

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct routine and detailed surveys of underground and surface mine workings, stockpiles, and plant areas.
• Establish and maintain survey control networks using advanced surveying equipment and techniques.
• Prepare and update mine plans, sections, and digital terrain models using CAD software.
• Monitor and report on in-situ resource volumes and mine development progress.
• Ensure accuracy of blast hole drilling and delineate stope boundaries.
• Perform volumetric calculations for earthworks, ore, and waste material.

Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in Mine Surveying or Geomatics.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Mine Surveyor in underground or open-pit mining operations.
• Proficiency with total stations, GPS, laser scanners, and associated survey software (e.g., Surpac, AutoCAD).
• Thorough understanding of surveying principles and their application in mining.
