Qualifications

  • National Diploma or Degree in Mine Surveying/Geomatics or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Mine Surveyor, preferably in open-pit mining.
  • Proficiency with GPS, total stations and laser scanners.
  • Experience with Surpac, AutoCAD Civil 3D and Deswik software.
  • Knowledge of South Africa mine surveying regulations.
  • Strong attention to detail and data accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily surveys of open-pit operations, including pit floors, highwalls and stockpiles.
  • Establish and maintain precise survey control networks for the mine site.
  • Process survey data to generate reports, plans and DTMs.
  • Monitor excavation progress against mine plans and report deviations.
  • Ensure surveying activities comply with laws and company standards.
  • Collaborate with mine engineers and geologists to provide spatial data for planning.

You will utilize advanced surveying equipment and software to perform daily surveys, monitor progress, and maintain survey control networks. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in surveying principles and practical experience in a mining environment, contributing to the precision and efficiency of operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct daily surveys of open-pit operations, including pit floors, highwalls, stockpiles, and infrastructure.
  • Establish and maintain precise survey control networks for the mine site.
  • Process and interpret survey data using specialized software to generate reports, plans, and digital terrain models.
  • Monitor and verify excavation progress against mine plans, reporting any deviations.
  • Ensure all surveying activities comply with legal requirements and company standards.
  • Collaborate with mine engineers and geologists to provide accurate spatial data for planning and resource management.
