Placements24 is seeking a meticulous Mine Surveyor to join our client in Port Elizabeth. The role focuses on accurate mapping of surface and underground environments, using total stations, GPS/GNSS, laser scanners, and drones to support safe mining operations.

The ideal candidate has 4+ years of mining survey experience, proficiency with surveying instruments, and a strong grasp of hydrographic surveying and data processing.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 4 years' experience as a Mine Surveyor in surface and underground environments.
  • Proficiency with modern surveying instruments and data processing software.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct topographic surveys and set out mine infrastructure.
  • Perform hydrographic surveys for water management and river/dam mapping.
  • Utilize total stations, GPS/GNSS, laser scanners and drones for data acquisition.
  • Process data with AutoCAD Civil 3D and Trimble Business Center.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a meticulous Mine Surveyor to join their team in Port Elizabeth . This role is essential for accurately mapping and measuring both surface and underground mine environments, ensuring precise control for all mining activities. You will be responsible for utilizing advanced surveying equipment and techniques, including hydrographic surveys for water management and land surveys for site planning and infrastructure development. The ideal candidate possesses strong technical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to providing accurate spatial data that underpins safe and efficient mine operations and environmental compliance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct topographic surveys, setting out of mine infrastructure, and monitoring of ground movement.
  • Perform hydrographic surveys to map riverbeds, dam levels, and underwater structures relevant to mining operations.
  • Utilize total stations, GPS/GNSS receivers, laser scanners, and drones for data acquisition.
  • Process and analyze survey data using specialized software (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center).
  • Maintain survey records, prepare survey plans, and provide accurate spatial information to engineering and geology departments.
  • Ensure adherence to all safety protocols and regulatory requirements during field operations.
Requirements
  • National Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Surveying, Geomatics, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Mine Surveyor, with experience in both surface and underground environments.
  • Proficiency with modern surveying instruments and data processing software.
  • Experience with hydrographic surveying techniques and equipment is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of spatial data management and coordinate systems relevant to mining.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to work in challenging field conditions in and around Port Elizabeth.
