Key Responsibilities

• Direct and manage all aspects of open-pit mining operations, including drilling, blasting, loading, and hauling.
• Develop and implement short-term and long-term operational plans to meet production targets.
• Ensure adherence to all health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations and company policies.
• Manage the operational budget, controlling costs and optimizing resource allocation.
• Supervise and mentor site supervisors, foremen, and operational staff.
• Oversee the maintenance and effective utilization of mobile mining equipment.
• Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and reduce downtime.
• Conduct regular safety inspections and lead incident investigations.
• Liaise with other departments, including geology, engineering, and maintenance, to ensure integrated operations.
• Report on operational performance, key performance indicators (KPIs), and production forecasts.

Requirements

• BSc/BEng in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
• A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in mine operations, with at least 5 years in a management role.
• Demonstrated experience in managing large-scale open-pit operations.
• In-depth knowledge of mining methods, equipment, and safety procedures.
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in mine planning and scheduling software.
• Proven ability to manage budgets and control operational costs effectively.
• Experience in implementing HSE management systems.
