Placements24 seeks an experienced Mine Operations Manager to lead operations in Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal. This senior role oversees safety, efficiency, and profitability, with accountability for planning, budgeting, scheduling, and resource management at the mine.

The ideal candidate will hold a Mining Engineering degree, bring at least 10 years of progressive mining operations experience, and demonstrate strong leadership of large teams in demanding conditions.

Qualifications

• 10 years in mining operations with 5+ in a management role.

About the Role

Our client is looking for a dynamic and results-driven Mine Operations Manager to lead their operations in Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal . This senior leadership role is responsible for the overall safety, efficiency, and profitability of the mine. You will oversee all aspects of mining production, from planning and execution to resource management and team leadership. The ideal candidate possesses a strong background in mine management, a commitment to best practices in health and safety, and the ability to drive continuous improvement in a demanding operational environment within the mining industry .

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement annual mine operating plans, budgets, and production targets.
• Ensure strict adherence to all health, safety, and environmental regulations and company policies.
• Manage and optimize mining equipment utilization, maintenance schedules, and resource allocation.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a diverse team of mining professionals and operational staff.
• Oversee production activities, monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), and implement corrective actions as needed.
• Foster a strong safety culture and promote operational excellence throughout the mine site.

Requirements

• Degree in Mining Engineering or a related technical field.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in mining operations, with at least 5 years in a management or supervisory role.
• Proven leadership experience in managing large teams and complex operational budgets.
• In-depth knowledge of various mining methods (open-pit and/or underground) and equipment.
• Strong understanding of mine planning, production scheduling, and cost control.
