Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Mine Environmental Officer in Benoni, Gauteng. The role supports the compliance and sustainability team, monitoring air, water, noise, and biodiversity, and developing mitigation strategies and EMS procedures.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or Environmental Management, at least 5 years in environmental management (preferably mining), and strong reporting and stakeholder engagement skills for operations in Gauteng.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years in environmental management, preferably mining.
• Knowledge of South African environmental legislation and permitting processes.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular environmental monitoring of air, water, noise, and biodiversity.
• Develop and implement Environmental Management Plans (EMPs) and rehabilitation strategies.
• Perform environmental impact assessments for mining activities and expansions.
• Ensure compliance with environmental legislation, permits, and license conditions.
• Investigate and report environmental incidents and recommend corrective actions.
