Placements24 seeks an Environmental Scientist to oversee compliance and sustainability in mining near Paarl. You will conduct EIAs, develop EMPs, and supervise monitoring to minimize ecological impact in a hybrid work setting.

Applicants should have a Bachelor's or Master's in Environmental Science or related field, 5+ years in mining, and knowledge of SA environmental law (NEMA). Strong reporting and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in environmental management within mining or heavy industry.
• Knowledge of South African environmental legislation (e.g., NEMA) and its mining applications.
• Experience with EIAs and environmental monitoring techniques.
• Strong report writing and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct EIAs and develop environmental management plans (EMPs).
• Oversee environmental monitoring programs for water, air, soil, and biodiversity.
• Ensure compliance with national and local environmental legislation and permitting requirements.
• Develop and implement strategies for waste management, rehabilitation, and closure planning.
• Liaise with regulatory bodies, stakeholders, and community representatives on environmental matters.
