Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a dedicated Environmental Officer to support mining operations near Mossel Bay. You will monitor environmental performance, develop and implement EMPs, and conduct site assessments to ensure regulatory compliance and sustainable practice.

The ideal candidate has a 4+ year track record in environmental management within mining or industrial settings, strong knowledge of SA environmental legislation (NEMA), data analysis skills, and excellent communication for site training.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or related field.
• 4+ years of experience in environmental management, preferably mining/industrial.
• Strong knowledge of SA environmental legislation (NEMA) and mining regs.
• Experience with environmental monitoring techniques and data analysis.
• Proficiency in environmental reporting and documentation.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and monitor EMPs for mining activities.
• Conduct regular environmental impact assessments and compliance audits.
• Monitor air quality, water quality, noise, and biodiversity at sites.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant national and local environmental legislation and permits.
• Manage waste management programs and pollution control measures.
• Provide environmental training and awareness programs for site personnel.
