Job summary

AURA is hiring Medical Dispatchers in Johannesburg to join a fast-paced control room team. You will coordinate emergency responses, dispatch medical and security personnel, and guide callers with calm, clear instructions during high-stress situations.

Ideal candidates have a Basic Ambulance Assistant qualification and EMS dispatch experience, with strong communication skills and attention to detail. Night and weekend shifts are required as part of flexible scheduling.

Qualifications

• Matric/Grade 12 is required.
• HPCSA accredited (BAA) qualification is mandatory.
• At least 2 years of operational EMS road experience.
• Dispatch or control room experience is a strong advantage.
• PSIRA registration is a bonus; assistance with certification during probation.

Responsibilities

• Answer and manage emergency calls via AURA’s tech platform.
• Handle inter-facility transfer calls via the platform.
• Assess situations, prioritise responses and dispatch teams accordingly.
• Provide pre-arrival instructions to callers in distress.
• Accurately triage medical calls and enter data correctly.
• Coordinate emergency vehicles in real time.
• Maintain detailed records of all calls and responses.
• Operate control room communications systems efficiently.
• Liaise with clients and internal teams to deliver emergency solutions.
• Ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulations.

As we continue to expand, specifically with a new customer integration in January 2027, we are expanding our medical desk capacity and looking for exceptional Medical Dispatchers to join our high-impact team.

Your Role at AURA

As a Medical Dispatcher, you’ll be on the frontlines of emergency response—coordinating critical calls, dispatching the right teams, and staying cool under pressure. You’ll use cutting-edge technology to ensure people get the help they need, fast.

Qualifications & Experience

• Matric / Grade 12

• Previous experience in a dispatch or control room environment is a strong advantage
