Job summary

Scatec ASA in Cape Town seeks a Mechanical Engineer to support mechanical activities across the project lifecycle, focusing on substructures for renewable energy projects. You will collaborate with senior engineers, suppliers, and lenders to ensure compliant design and execution from development through to operation.

You will bring a degree in mechanical engineering and hands-on experience in structural analysis, AutoCAD, and PV project design.

Qualifications

Degree in Mechanical, Electromechanical or Mechatronic Engineering.
At least four years’ relevant engineering experience, including three years in structural analysis and three years in a project environment.
Experience in AutoCAD, mechanical testing processes, and utility-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) project design and execution.

Responsibilities

Support mechanical engineering activities across the project lifecycle.
Assess suitable substructure solutions for greenfield sites and contribute to energy yield assessments.
Develop mechanical base cases and specifications, evaluate technologies and perform due diligence.
Coordinate with Supply Chain Management for proposals, supplier evaluations and technical schedules.
Review design changes and participate in testing, commissioning and handover of substructures.
