Placements24 in Cape Town is seeking a Project Mechanical Engineer to lead end-to-end mechanical engineering for renewable energy installations, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient performance on site.

You will manage design, procurement, installation and commissioning, interpret drawings, develop BOMs, and ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards, while delivering on schedule.

Qualifications

• BEng or BSc in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized institution.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering project management.
• Experience in renewable energy is highly preferred; strong CAD/PM software skills.

You will be responsible for the end-to-end mechanical engineering aspects of renewable energy installations, ensuring efficient and reliable system performance. This role requires a proactive approach to project management, technical problem-solving, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. Key Responsibilities

• Manage the mechanical design and integration of renewable energy systems, such as solar or wind farms.
• Conduct site assessments, feasibility studies, and technical evaluations for new projects.
• Develop detailed mechanical drawings, specifications, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Oversee the procurement, installation, and commissioning of mechanical equipment.
• Ensure all mechanical aspects comply with safety regulations, environmental standards, and project timelines.
• Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues encountered during project execution and operation.

Requirements

• BEng or BSc in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized institution.
